My favorites taken with my new camera yesterday:
As soon as I turned on the camera, Amelia wanted me to take her picture which was a welcome surprise. She usually turns away or refuses when I ask for her to look my way. This is the first picture I took. You can even see the little freckles she’s starting to get on her cheeks. I love her hand on her hip.
Cooper is always a good subject.
As is Katie. This lens has a really short depth of field for closeups. I had a hard time choosing my first lens. I wanted something that would be very versatile. I got a 55-200mm which I’d consider a low to mid-range telephoto. I had a hard time translating digital lens sizes to the 35mm sizes that I was used to. Now that I have it, I definitely want something wider as this will be difficult to use in smaller areas because I need to be at least a few feet away from my subject to focus clearly.
Oops is trickier to photograph because he’s always following me around.
“Mama, can you take a picture of me with my sun hat?”
Nanny gave Amelia this swing for Christmas. Artie just put it up last weekend in the woods behind the house. I admit that I’m jealous of her…this is one cool swing. Plus Artie put it on a high branch, so it has a huge range of swing. Much fun. Amelia named him Ted.
This is why I wanted this lens! With Amelia turning her back on me whenever I lift the camera, I was hoping to put a little distance between me and my subject (which is often her) so that it won’t know I’m taking pictures.
Had to get one of Asia kitty, although she has no interest in being photographed.
Some flowers in our gardens. Using this lens for these closeups makes for a really short DOF. I like.
Amelia and Artie practicing batting for t-ball. She’s actually listening to him here.
She loves her swing.
One of my favorite subjects.
